BGS Global Hospitals Group introduces the most comprehensive cancer treatment with the world’s most advanced radiation therapy machine TrueBeam STx at BGS Global, Bengaluru. TrueBeam STx is an advanced radiation therapy machine engineered to perform the most sophisticated radiation therapy and radio-surgery procedures with pinpoint accuracy and ultra-fine precision. It works by choreographing highly sophisticated systems, imaging, beam delivery and motion management and makes it possible to deliver treatments quickly while monitoring and compensating for tumor motion. It also enables faster, accurate tumor targeting in the treatment of challenging cancers throughout the body, including those in the brain, pancreas and liver.
This latest technology is designed to targets only the cancer cells in tumors even when the effected organ is moving, for instance in organs like lungs, prostate, and kidney. This technology is high in precision and speed and uses the Gated RapidArc mechanism. BGS Global is spread across the nation and has spent more than Rs 150 crore in making this technology available to their patients. Though the technology has been launched in Bengaluru, in future TrueBeam STx would also be installed at BGS Global Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai.
“At Global Hospitals Group, we are on a constant quest to bring patients the best treatments in the form of clinical expertise and technology. Towards this, we have been continuously investing on the most advanced technologies. I am personally delighted that today we bring to the people of Karnataka, Asia Pacifics’ first TrueBeam STx. Since inception we have been performing medical and surgical procedures to treat a variety of cancers. The addition of TrueBeam STx will now help us in bringing the cancer patients requiring radiation therapy, the best radiation technology ever. We will soon be commissioning Gamma Camera and Brachy Therapy machines too, while PET CT is already commissioned, which will make BGS Global Hospitals a complete one-stop destination for the most advanced radiation therapy treatments in the world,” said Dr K Ravindranath, Chairman & Managing Director, Global Hospitals Group. Adding to this he said, “There are a number of hospitals today who treat cancer, but we are the first mutli-specialty hospitals to step into the field of cancer and provide the best service and technology available in the world. TrueBeam STx is an expensive machine and has cost us Rs 25 crore, but I can assure people that though the technology is expensive, the cost would not increase on the patients.”
BGS has not only paid attention to making supreme class technology available for their patients but have also built a strong team of 20 doctors who would treat area-specific cancer. They have dedicated a portion within the hospital for cancer with approximately 100 beds. Though the technology has just been launched, they have approximately 18 patients in line for this treatment.
