Health Access Week 2012 to commence from 4th April
India Health Progress (IHP) has announced the 2nd edition of the Health Access Week commencing from April 4th – 12th 2012. The Health Access Week is a unique initiative started by IHP in 2011 with the intent to sensitise stakeholder groups on the lack of access to healthcare in the country and amplify voices on this critical issue.
A nationwide campaign comprising of a mix of on-ground and online activations is being planned to emphasise the need for a coordinated approach to ensure equitable and quality care for all citizens of the country.
Announcing the dates of Health Access Week, Aman Gupta, Principal Advisor, India Health Progress said, “This year our focus is to bring together various industry stakeholders on a common platform to address all issues that impede access and discuss the strategies to integrate efforts to ensure universal access to healthcare in the country.”
The campaign will kick start with the release of a research report by Prof. Dileep Malvankar, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. This report will be an analytical take on the recommendations made for the implementation of Universal healthcare coverage.
This will be followed by a walkathon that will see students, doctors, healthcare providers and NGOs alike joining a ‘Walk’ to raise a voice on lack of access to healthcare.
In addition to these initiatives, IHP will also planning an expert round table involving key stakeholders to address the burgeoning concern on lack of healthcare access in the country.
“We anticipate greater participation from the industry to spread awareness about the need for a better environment to provide access to healthcare. A synchronised effort is certain to attract better results and reach the right audiences to ensure effective action,” Gupta added.
